Landmark Sender
This is a tool to send geocaching.com geocaching coordinates to Nokia phone using the LMX (Landmarks Exchange Format) file format. It is using java web start and has been tested to work under Windows, Mac and Linux. It may be launched using the above button.
Instructions
After launching, the main window shows as follows:
Enter the URL to a geocaching.com cache page, such as http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=4fe534c7-89b8-4172-af42-39c6e0a42990, by copying from your browser:
The program will now extract information such as coordinates, hints, cache code and the link into an editor window:
Use the Send via bluetooth button to send a LMX file containing the cache information to your Nokia phone (which must have bluetooth enabled and be discoverable).
Notes
- If unable to send the files using bluetooth from the program, use the Save to file button which saves the files to disk, allowing you to send them to your device using other means (such as manual bluetooth, USB or email).
- If having problem with No OBEX URL, try a few times more, possibly after restarting the application.
- Note that you may edit the landmark fields before saving, allowing you to update coordinates or write down additional hints from the cache comments.
- Note that you may add several cache landmarks before sending them to the phone.
- When using multiple landmarks, the tabs are draggable. The files will be sent to the phone in the order of the tabs.
- Linux: See the Bluecove Linux Module for troubleshooting bluetooth, especially the following: You need package/rpm that creates a link libbluetooth.so to already installed libbluetooth.so.3 or libbluetooth.so.2
* libbluetooth-dev on Ubuntu
* bluez-libs-devel on Fedora
* bluez-devel on openSUSE
- If having problem with java web start, try to download the jar file and launch it manually.
